I have to be honest, I started this book with a severe case of book hangover, so it took me a while to get into it. I was also taken by surprise when the MCs were addressing me, the reader. But once I remembered who Scar was and got the rhythm of the book @ around 25%, I fell in love with these characters and this story. This was a dark read with a humorous undertone. Lorenzo is still crazy, still eating his oranges, but we see a different side of him. Scarlet is time enough for him, with her fearless attitude and spunk. They share some hot sex, but don’t declare undying love. I love how without words, the connection between these two is palpable. This book is all about “actions speak louder than words” and I’m here for it. I can’t wait to see where this story is going. We only have a few weeks until book #2 is released. I really fell in love with Lorenzo. He is a def #level3.

This was such an entertaining read. We were introduced to Lorenzo briefly in another J.M. series, but I did not automatically recognize who he was. Once it clicked, the pieces all fell together and Lorenzo became even more entertaining. Lorenzo was funny, but calculated and methodical, until he did something completely unexpected. I loved that he engaged us and spoke directly to the reader. I felt like I was really getting to know Lorenzo and he was inviting me into his secret thoughts. Scarlet was strong and smart. She did what was necessary to survive. The connection between Scarlet and Lorenzo was real and strong even if they never acknowledged it. I’m so happy that I don’t have to wait too long for the next book in these series because I LOVE Lorenzo. #level3
