This book was short, but so deep. After being in paranormal lala land, this story was like a hard slap in the face. The opening scene sets the stage and lets you know that it is going to be a crazy ride. Maddox and Aylee had an undeniable connection which given their backgrounds made perfect sense. These characters were impossible to not love. They endured so much individually but still found a way to open up to each other. This story was strong, emotional and so gritty just like Francette Phal’s other work. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
This book gets 5 stars.

WoW! I feel this way every time I read a book by this author. FP’s books are <300 pages most of the time, but by the time the reader gets to the last page, it feels like you’ve read a 500 page book. I am in awe of her writing. This story was heavy, dark, and beautiful. The MCs shared pain and rage led them to an unforgettable love that surpassed their pasts. This book was not enough, and I can’t wait for the novella. FP has made my list of trusted authors.
Definitely 5 stars
