Review: The Great Hunt by Wendy Higgins

ARC Generously Provided by Author in Exchange For An Honest Review

First I want to thank Wendy for gifting us with this ARC, we absolutely loved meeting her @ One More Page’s event. Now on to the good stuff… This book was freaking amazing. When I reached the 200 page mark I  slowed my pace all the way down because I didn’t want it to end. But I pretty much read this in one sitting. The world building pulled me in and didn’t let go. Even though this is pegged as a fantasy novel, the issue of discrimination was very real. I loved how WH merged this world of fantasy with real world issues. It was brilliant. The action had me on the edge of my seat.  The characters were real and well developed. I live for strong heroines, and Aerity is every bit of a strong heroine. She is a true princess, and I hope she gets everything she deserves. Paxton, Paxton, Paxton, what a tortured beautiful soul, *sigh*. I loved the subplots as well. This was a well written story that ends in a cliffhanger. My only complaint is that I have to wait for part 2, and I’m dreading it. I mean part 1 hasn’t even been released. *sigh*

Reading is an escape right? Only when the story is good enough to draw you in, and only when the world is full enough to be real. Wendy Higgins is a master at creating characters and worlds that are full and vibrant. The only question I have after reading this book is, “when is the next one coming out?” The blessing and curse of the ARC. The next one won’t be out for such a long time! I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I LOVE a strong heroine, and that is exactly who Aerity is. She is willing to sacrifice her own personal desires for the greater good. And Paxton…  Thank you Wendy for an immersive world that’s easy to get lost in.
