Review: Since I’ve Been Loving You by Kelli Jean

Since I've Been Loving You (NOLA's Own, #4)

There’s a saying that three is a crowd.
With her heart and soul shattered, Alys Stuart suffers in silence for a secret she’s been hiding from everyone for eight years.
Xavier “X” Johnson sees right through her facade and vows to love and cherish her until his dying breath. Because he understands what it means to have a secret that no one can ever know.
But, just as X starts to heal Alys with his love, her secret comes home—in the gorgeous form of Connor MacGregor.
How can Alys choose between the man who makes her soul soar and the man who wants nothing more than to give her the world?

We were gifted an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.

One of our favorite moments during #COPA17 was meeting Kelli Jean. We fangirled sooooo hard and begged to be put on her ARC list. Well, the begging worked and we got an ARC. This has been one of my most anticipated reads and it didn’t disappoint. After Phil and Kenna’s story ended, I was more than curious about Connor, Alys, and X. This story starts with the history of these three, before “NOLA’s Junk” was big. We got to experience their heartaches, accomplishments, sacrifices, and life altering decisions. We got to know these characters on a different level. X was an amazing lover, friend, and person. He deserved everything life had to offer. Alys was extremely sensitive, but her inner strength showed time and time again. She went through so much and I just wanted her to win.  Connor was so stubborn. I wanted to strangle him on multiple occasions. In the end, I rooted for him as well. Connor, X, and Alys’ story had me swooning, cringing, screaming, and crying. I knew the heartbreak would come, but I was still dealt an emotional punch when it happened. Just like with the 1st 3 books in this series, this book took over my life. Its not like these books have a ton of nail biting drama, but its just something about hanging out with “Our Boys” that I can’t get enough of. I just love being in their world. In my opinion the plot is just an added plus, because I can honestly read about them just hanging out.  Don’t get me wrong the plot was every thing I wanted, the writing flowed effortlessly, and the set up was perfect. But since I love these boys so much, I may be biased. So, you’ll have to find out for yourself and click the buying link:) Read this series.

It was so good to be back in the world of NOLA’s Junk. I don’t even listen to metal music, but I love this band. Like Natasha said, I knew what was going to happen to X, but I was still devastated when he died. The first half of this book told his story and it made me fall so deeply in love with him. BUT Alys and Connor’s love was EPIC and transcendent. They went through so much to be together and even though I LOVED X, I was rooting for Connor and Alys to be together. This story was full of ups and downs, heart-wrenching emotions and love. Definitely a mist read series!

By Vi Keeland

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.

He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.

When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.

You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend–smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.

He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he’d done.

Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.

Only it turned out, the man I’d just told off wasn’t the right guy.

Oops.  My mistake.

Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.

I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?

That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.

Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.

I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.

Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.

This was going to be interesting…

Review: One is a Promise by Pam Godwin

One is a Promise (Tangled Lies, #1)

One promise.
One forever.
One look and I knew Cole was mine. My dark rebel in leather. My powerhouse of passion, devastating smiles, and impulsiveness.
When his job sends him overseas, he promises to return to me.
A promise that’s destroyed in the most irrevocable way.
Two years later, an arrogant suit invades my heartbroken loneliness.
Clean-cut and stern, Trace is everything Cole wasn’t.
At first, he’s a job that will rescue my dance company. But as he intrudes on my life, our hostile relationship evolves.
He knows I’m still in love with Cole, but his dedication is my undoing.
Then a catastrophic moment changes everything.
Promises resurface.
Lies entangle.
And an impossible choice shatters my world.
I love two men, and I can only have one.

**ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review**

I’m freaking speechless right now! I feel the worst book hangover coming on. Let me try to write a cohesive review… First of all I love Pam Godwin as much as I loathe love triangles. So I had to read this and was so excited to be gifted an ARC. I was pulled into this story within the 1st few pages. I loved Danni. She was quirky, giving, and loved Beyoncé. (Anyone who knows me, knows I love Beyoncé). My girl crush on Danni grew as I watched her fight to overcome debilitating emotional pain.  I was in awe of her. All while dealing with massive loss, she continued to be a source of light to other people. I don’t want to give too much of the plot away, but bottom line… I fell for 2 men. Ms. Godwin really did a number on me. Her writing totally unarmed me. The expected became unexpected and the obvious choice became obscure. I posted numerous GR updates while reading this. One of my 1st updates read “This book is going to destroy me.”  Destroy me it did and I loved every moment. I’m so freaking torn and confused. My heart goes out to Danni. I can’t wait for the next installment. I think I may just text Jasmine again to discuss some more.  This will make the 20th text btw…lol. Read it!!! Its not your average love triangle!!!

I… I just don’t even know where to start. This book left me with so many questions. ok, first of all, as Natasha said, we LOVE Pam Godwin, so of course when we had the opportunity we jumped on her arc. I wasn’t immediately drawn into Danni. It wasn’t until she met Cole that I was absolutely invested (which happened in the 3rd chapter). As I got to know her more, I began to appreciate her character more. She was dealing with deep sorrow, but still managed to inspire others. The one emotion that was immediate was hatred for Trace. It was clear from the onset that Cole and Trace were polar opposites. Yet, somehow I fell for both men, eventually. This is an amazing story. The characters were so strong and well developed. What I’m still trying to wrap my head around is that I knew this was going to be a love triangle. I knew she was going to have an impossible choice to make. Yet, somehow I still managed to be shocked. The only reason I’m not cursing and throwing my kindle is because I know the next one will be out in about a month. This is a definite MUST READ.

Review: Incentive by Pam Godwin

Incentive (Infidelity World)

Desperate men do desperate things.
When Decker Gabrielli hits rock bottom, he accepts a job as a hired companion at Infidelity.
Surrendering a year of his life to a woman he’s never met might be the worst idea ever. But money, prestige, and sex are powerful incentives. That is, until the job becomes more than a contractual agreement.
Hard limits are breached, panties are shredded, and rules are broken.
In the end, his secret to getting ahead is… her

I’m so glad this was my 1st read back into Aleatha’s World of Infidelity. I completely fell in love with Laynee and Decker’s story. It was a quick hot read. Decker. Decker. Decker. Gah! Can I have him. His alpha jumped off the pages into my heart and panties. He was everything. The way he cared for Laynee, the sacrifices they made for each other, and their hot lovemaking melted my heart. I was on the edge of my seat during the moments when they proved their love. My mouth hung wide open at the boldness of it all. I still can’t believe… WOW! Just Wow! I can’t wait for Jasmine to read this so we can scream together. I love Pam Godwin. I love Aleatha. I love this book.  Read it!!!!

Mmmmmm mmmm mmm mmmm… Decker Decker Decker… Excuse me while I change my panties. Decker is so damn hot! He is a true alpha in every sense. He took control in every situation, but was sensitive to his woman’s needs. There was NOTHING that he would not do for Laynee. He was always in control, but never used his power to overpower her. Instead, he used his control to empower Laynee and help build her up. Laynee and Decker’s story was so amazing. It was sweet and honest. I loved the way they challenged each other to be better and do better. Plus, their sex was so hot!! You definitely need to read this book.

Review: Painted on my Heart by Kindle Alexander

Painted On My Heart

Artist Kellus Hardin let love and loyalty cloud his past decisions, a mistake he definitely won’t make again. Now, lost and alone, he’s left to pick up the shattered pieces of his broken heart while facing the truth of his reality.
Arik Layne exudes power, confidence, and determination. But when an encounter with the guarded artist shakes him to the core and alters all his future goals, he finds more than just his heart on the line.
For Kellus, opening himself to love isn’t an option.
All Arik wants is to make the artist his.
Can love create a masterpiece when it’s painted on your heart?

We met these ladies in February @ the Rebels and Readers Author Event. They asked if we read M/M… We were like hells yeah! So, I purchased 2 books and got them signed. I decided to pick this one up and dive in. Boy oh boy, was this a good book. Arik and Kellus were so freaking hot. Arik was extremely domineering and caring. Arik took one look at Kellus and knew he wanted him. Arik was relentless, and I enjoyed watching him pull all the stops. Kellus was a sweetheart, almost to the point of being dumb. His story dealt with authentic issues and were extremely relevant. It was  difficult to watch at times. My heart broke for him. But thank goodness for Arik, because he was there to mend our broken hearts…lol.  The supporting characters were a riot. I loved their banter. This was a great read and my 1st from these authors. I am totally hooked on the slow build, which is soooo their writing style. Now… I have to read all their other books, but I’m not complaining. 🙂

Review: Plus One by Aleatha Romig

Plus One

A little birdie gifted us with an ARC…

When I first heard about this softer side of Aleatha, I was skeptical. I mean, could we really trust her not to Aleatha us? So I took a chance, let my guard down and fell in love with this story. This was lighthearted for Aleatha, but the characters still gave me that edge I need with my books. Kimbra initially seemed timid, but that was sooooo not the case. She was a vixen, whose favorite word was “FUCK”. I mean how cool is that? Duncan was the ultimate alpha male. He knew exactly what he wanted and seized any opportunity to get it. Again, this story was tame for Aleatha, but her personality shined through. These characters were freaking hilarious. OMG!!!!!!!!! Helen. Electric toothbrushes  have been ruined for me. I absolutely loved it. At the end of the book Aleatha says “I hope you’re smiling”. YES, I was smiling. I had the biggest, cheesiest smile on my face known to man.

Natasha, I was super nervous about light hearted Leatha, but our girl did not let us down. I have to admit that I was waiting throughout the entire book to get Aleatha’d (excuse my trust issues). This book was the opposite of what we’ve come to expect from Aleatha, but one thing is consistent… Her true alpha males and her strong heroines. Kimbra was so dynamic. She did initially seem soft, but as we got to know her, we saw that she was so much more. And Duncan? He was strong and sexy. He seized his opportunity and closed the deal. He was all alpha, but appreciated Kimbra’s confidence and strength. The supporting characters were hilarious. Grandma Helen was a mess, but so funny! I would have loved to been a guest sitting at their table at the wedding. I kinda like Leatha, but I do feel like it’s the perfect setup for us to have our guard down for the next Aleatha story… I’m sorry. I told you I have trust issues…
