The Art of Mutual Pleasure by K.A. Merikan

The Art of Mutual Pleasure

ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review

Our girls did it again. This was a quick read, but of course with any K.A. Merikan book it was filled with passion, angst, and swoon worthy moments. This was the story of Benjamin, who was ultimately trying to find himself. Even though I found myself dying laughing at Benjamin, I felt an enormous amount of empathy for him. He was pitiful and hilarious at the same time. I enjoyed his journey, and all the hot sex he had on his way to self discovery. I prayed Benjamin found his way. This was a nice short read, but it packed a punch.  K.A. Merikan are easily on our trusted authors list.

What Natasha said! Seriously though, these ladies always deliver. I felt so bad for Benjamin as he stumbled through trying to figure out who he really was. He was so lost and really got into some uhm… interesting positions. I laughed at him, wanted to hug him and shake him all at the same time. This was a quick but entertaining read

Flow by Kennedy Ryan

Flow (Grip, #0.5)

Blurb: In 8 years, Marlon James will be one of the brightest rising stars in the music industry.
Bristol Gray will be his tough, no-nonsense manager.
But when they first meet, she’s a college student finding her way in the world, and he’s an artist determined to make his way in it.
From completely different worlds, all the things that should separate them only draw them closer.
It’s a beautiful beginning, but where will the story end?

We met Kennedy Ryan at COPA in New York and were so excited to dive into this book. Flow was a novella and was very short, but I feel like I really got to know Grip. He has so much depth in his personality, and I feel like I really got insight into who he is in a short amount of time. And I LOVE HIM. He’s intelligent and sexy. He’s complex, but straight forward at the same time. He’s experienced hardship, but it hasn’t made him jaded. He is such an amazing character and I need more of him. Bristol was a character with many different levels as well. Her driving force is her love for and belief in her brother. She believes in him so much that she is willing to bet her entire life on him. Her connection to Grip was as immediate as mine. Their connection was real and deeper than physical, although the physical attraction was there as well. There were a few hot moments, that were especially hot because they were stolen. We hardly ever get a chance to see a black book boy, so I must admit (sorry Kennedy) that I was a little skeptical that he wouldn’t be believable. Grip was everything that I love in a book boy and some. His voice was authentic and not at all trite or overdone. This was my first Kennedy Ryan read and I cannot wait to jump into the next one! I’m hooked!!

Damn it Jasmine!!!!!!! I have no idea what to say now (little cousins are the worst). Since Jasmine took all of my thoughts, I’ll make this short and sweet. I honestly didn’t know what to expect when I started this book. I started off slow. But @ 30% in, I spoke the words “thank you” and they were aimed at Kennedy Ryan for her authentic characters and the truths they told.  I appreciated Grip’s approachable personality. He jumped off the pages right into my heart. I can’t wait to see where this story is going. I have a feeling its going to be angsty…*sigh* BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review: The Struggle by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Struggle (Titan, #3)

You guys have to know by now that JLA is one of our favorite authors. I will read ANYTHING she writes (even a memo on a post it note). This was one of my most anticipated reads this year, and it didn’t disappoint. Woo if you know Seth, you know he keeps you strapped to an emotional roller coaster. He started as a thorn in my side, to one of my most loathed characters ever, now he has grown on me and I kind of love him. He is still an arrogant asshole, but he has become a loveable arrogant asshole, who will do anything to protect Josie, and maybe his “friends” lol. Josie  has matured in this book. I’ll admit I was hard on her in the past. But I realized something with this book. Josie knows exactly who Seth is, and she accepts him anyway. Gotta love her. Gotta love them! Josie and Seth have become one of my favorite couples. The plot remains exciting and action packed. The supporting characters are fun as ever. And I loved to see the “Army of Awesomeness” reunited. I want to say so much more, but I don’t want to give anything away. I will say this, Seth is a beast! I feel sorry for anyone who messes with him or Josie. I’m already stalking the next book. Oh and  Seth is a cool ass name, especially since that’s my 9yr old’s name.

I have always loved Josie. She is such a strong character and the perfect match for Seth. She accepts and loves him for who he is, even when he doesn’t accept himself. It’s amazing to see Seth continue to grow into a good person because he was one of the worst villains of all time. His transition doesn’t make him perfect because he is still an asshole, but it does make him lovable. He is willing to do what is right by his woman, even if it means a personal sacrifice from him. It’s such a change from who he was that everyone has problems accepting his new, good intentions. I CANNOT wait to see what happens next!

New Release: Ripple Effect (Episode 4) by Keri Lake

From the author of Ricochet and Backfire comes a dark erotic suspense serial …

Episode Four: With every cause, there’s an effect, and Ripley will do everything in his power to keep Dylan safe. To hell with the consequences.

Series Synopsis:

Ripley

They call me RIP.
I’m a killer. A murderer. A psychopath.
In the eyes of the righteous, I’m a monster, born of sin and depravity.
I want to protect her, but I’m not a good man.
I want to love her, but I no longer feel.
She gets under my skin, though, and has awakened something inside of me.
Something I’d kill for.
I’m not her savior—not even close. In fact, I’m worse than the hell she’s already suffered.
I’m her vengeance. Tit for tat, as they say.
And if she’s not careful, I’ll be her ruin.

Dylan

For months, I’ve watched him.
I’ve fantasized him as my savior, my lover. My ticket out of the hell I’ve lived in for the last six years.
I never dreamed he’d be my nightmare.
Had I known what he really is, I’d have never gotten in the car that night, but life is full of cause and effect.
And sometimes the choice on offer isn’t a choice at all.
It’s the result of something already in motion, and we’re merely left to survive the ripple effect.

*This is an erotic suspense/erotic romance not recommended for readers under the age of 18 due to graphic violence and sex

Dylan

“Look, I know it doesn’t mean anything to you.  I get that you don’t like the hero stuff.  But I really do appreciate what you did.”  I run my finger along his perfectly trimmed hairline and bend forward to kiss the back of his neck.  I can’t help it.  It’s the first time I’ve attempted affection since his accusation.
He doesn’t react at all.  Doesn’t even look at me, and I’m at a complete loss for how to crack this man.  There are times I feel I’ve touched his soul, only to find I’ve not even breached his skin.
His lack of reaction to me is nothing short of embarrassing—rejection of the worst kind, because I’ve tacked it on to a pathetic gesture of thanks.
“Forget it.”  I step past him and feel a hard grip of my arm that spins me right the hell around.  Twisting my wrist is a fruitless effort in his steel grip, and in spite of my resistance, he pulls me back into him, until I fall awkwardly straddling his lap.  I slide back on his legs, and he yanks me forward by my wrists, until I’m fully aware of what must be one hell of a painful bulge between us.  “This isn’t easy for me, you know?  Showing my gratitude.  I’m not used to this shit.  And you make it … impossible!”
“I don’t need your fucking gratitude, Dylan.  It was a job, okay?”
“I’m just a job to you?”  I can’t even believe I’m talking aloud, saying this shit like something straight out of an angsty teen movie, but he’s got me so pissed I can’t help myself.  The words continue to fall in all their cringe-worthy glory.  “That’s it?  You didn’t give a shit, right?  You’d have let those bastards use and abuse me right there? Rook wanted to fuck me with a pair of pliers.  Did you know that?”  The tic of his eye and the clench of his jaw tell me I’ve hit a nerve, and still my mouth won’t quit.  “Is that what gets you off, Ripley?  Are you such a sadistic bastard, so goddamn hell-bent on pain you’d have let that happen?”
His brows come together at the same time he grips my jaw, and for the first time in the last hour, I see something flicker across his face—pain, anger, I can’t tell, but it’s better than the stoic expression he’s been wearing.  “I’ve killed him a million times in my mind for touching you, Dylan.  You’re having trouble showing gratitude?  I’m having a fuck of a time playing the good guy here.  I don’t save people, sweetheart.  I kill them.  In brutally violent ways, but last night …” His lips form a hard line, brows stern.  “I would’ve taken every bruise they put on your body.  Every punch for you.  Only for you.  Seeing you laid out like that flipped my fucking switch, and I lost control.”

cover reveal.JPG

In this alpha-driven romance perfect for fans of Vi Keeland and S.L. Jennings, the price of one woman’s passion is everything she holds dear

Not everything dangerous is bad.

From the moment Angelina laid eyes on him, she fell into a fantasy. Mysterious, foreign, gorgeous, Haithem offered her what she needed most—a chance to feel again.

But Haithem is much more than he appears to be. He lives in a world of danger where everything comes at a price.

For Angelina, that price is her future.

He’s ensured the life she’s left behind is in tatters. Made her family believe she’s dead. He talks about protecting her, about keeping her safe, but she can’t distinguish his truth from his lies. She can’t separate her pleasure from his betrayal.

Haithem warned her. He told her he’d make her heart race, her body come alive, and her most primal needs rush to the surface. His for the taking.

He didn’t say she’d come to love the devil who’s destroying her, even as he keeps her prisoner.
